Album insights

Established artists have been joining forces with emerging musicians every summer in Switzerland since 1994 at the Verbier Festival for top-notch concerts. The festival places a special emphasis on chamber music. In 2020, due to the pandemic, the festival is taking place virtually, and in commemoration, Deutsche Grammophon is releasing four exceptional live recordings from past years of the festival as digital albums. Shostakovich's first Piano Trio, originally titled "Poème" by the composer, is a hidden love letter that is brought to life sensually and eloquently in this recording by Janine Jansen, Lucas Debargue, and Mischa Maisky.
